Denton County Nonprofit Community Doused with 21K Bottles of Hand Sanitizer

BPS Technology/Shotwell Hydrogenics, United Way of Denton County, and Denton County collaborate to provide much-needed PPE provisions to over 30 nonprofit groups across Denton County

 

A steady stream of cars, vans, and trucks passed by the docks of Denton County Emergency Services as Denton County nonprofits picked up cases of 8 oz. bottles of hand sanitizer donated by BPS Technology and Shotwell Hydrogenics to United Way of Denton County.

Nonprofits Convene to Plan for 2021

Led by United Way of Denton County, 16 nonprofits were represented to learn about United Ways of Texas’ “Built for Texas” Report which highlights the impact and opportunity of the nonprofit sector.

We hosted a nonprofit convening with 16 organizations from across Denton County to review the “Built for Texas” report from United Ways of Texas and Onestar Foundation and discuss how the nonprofit sector can advocate for legislative infrastructure support as they look to 2021.

Denton County Commissioners allot additional $333K to assist residents

The Denton County Commissioners Court allocated an additional $333,410 to United Way of Denton County to assist Denton County residents with food, rental assistance, healthcare and mental health among other grants to Denton County nonprofits serving residents hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic. 
 
Denton County’s contribution on Tuesday is in addition to $735,000 designated for United Way’s COVID-19 Relief & Recovery Fund in April.

Denton County Reads United Thanks to First Book Grant

United Way of Denton County received a grant of $17,435 from First Book to provide free books to elementary schools and childcare facilities across Denton County

In a true demonstration of collaboration, United Way of Denton County, the Denton County Workforce Success Leadership Team, and the Early Childhood Coalition (ECC) infused our community with new books thanks to a $17,435 grant from OMG Book Grant, a partnership of First Book and United Ways of Texas.

City of Denton Issues $40K Challenge Grant for Housing Stability

Public Asked to Donate and Double their Impact with Matching Grant to Denton County Homelessness Barriers Fund 
 
The City of Denton has issued a challenge to United Way of Denton County and the Denton County community as part of the continuing effort to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring with a $40,000 matching grant to the Denton County Homelessness Barriers Fund.
