Gary Henderson became United Way of Denton County's President and CEO in 2011. Prior to leading the United Way of Denton County team, Gary served as CEO at Communities In Schools of North Texas for nine years where he led this Denton County-based non-profit organization focused on dropout prevention to growth of more than 500%. Prior to entering the non-profit sector in 2003, Gary enjoyed a successful 17-year career in the for-profit sector at Price Waterhouse as a Senior Manager leading Investment Management and Security Operations engagements and at Bank of America serving as Senior Vice President leading Private Bank Technology & Operations teams in Wealth Management.
A United Way donor since the beginning of his career, Gary brings a passion for Denton County nonprofit sector growth, for helping people, and to leverage his skills and experiences to foster cross-sector collaborations that improve and transform lives for a thriving Denton County. He serves as a board member of Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas, Board Chair of United Ways of Texas, Past Board Chair of the Denton Chamber of Commerce, 2014 Graduate of Leadership Denton, and Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce's 2011 Citizen of the Year. Gary & his wife Pam have called Denton County home since 1989 & enjoy time with their two adult children, their spouses & two grandchildren.
