An Emergency Response to Support Food Pantries Serving Denton County Families

We are mobilizing an emergency response to the food insecurity crisis in our community. But we cannot do it alone.

Local food pantries expect a dramatic increase in volume from individuals and families across Denton County impacted by the disruption of SNAP benefits during the extended government shutdown.

Right here in Denton County, our ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) neighbors must make difficult decisions:

  • Single moms skip meals so their kids can eat.
  • Seniors, living on fixed incomes, choose between medication and food.
  • Working families living paycheck to paycheck now face hunger.

More than 46,000 people in Denton County will be directly impacted by the SNAP-Pause, effective November 1, according to data from Tarrant Area Food Bank.

When families struggle to put food on the table, it affects every aspect of their lives. Your donation will support local food pantries serving our community because no one should have to choose between healthy meals and monthly bills.

Corporate and individual donations will be distributed to Denton County-based food pantries to assist them as they meet this urgent need.

Healthy food is one of the foundations of a thriving community. That's why United Way of Denton County takes action to connect people to the resources they need to lead healthy lives.
