$62K Raised at Sold Out Golf Tournament
Denton County’s longest running charity golf event tees up for 29th year led by local dealerships.
Golfers were eager to hit the golf course on Monday, June 24th for the anticipated 29th Annual People Helping People Golf Tournament after a week-long rain delay. Denton County’s longest-running charity golf event reach new heights raising $62,377 to support United Way of Denton County (UWDC) and their mission to improve and transform lives in Denton County.

$2.1M BACK TO TAXPAYERS THANKS TO VITA
United Way of Denton County announced the 11th consecutive year of return growth for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for tax year 2018 with 1,552 returns filed with tax credits totaling $2.1 million for hard-working Denton County taxpayers.

The United Way of Denton County (UWDC) Board of Directors approved the organization’s 2019-2020 operating budget at their March meeting with over $2.4 million allocated to continuing the dual strategy of leading Collective Impact Initiatives and supporting Partner Agencies to serve vulnerable populations in a growing Denton County.

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed and represents the population of individuals and families in Denton County who are working but unable to afford the basic necessities of housing, food, childcare, health care, and transportation. The ALICE household survival budget is $52,956 for a family of four. This budget only includes the necessities and does not cover savings or emergencies.
