United Way of Denton County is now accepting applications for internships!

Resource Development Internships
The Resource Development Internship is a comprehensive internship experience that provides the intern grant research and development, fundraising, event planning, and donor relationship development experiences.  Resource Development interns will participate in partnership development activities that achieve strategic resource development goals for United Way of Denton County.  Under the direction of the Resource Development Director and with support from the CEO, the Resource Development Internship enables the candidate to participate with board, staff and volunteers in the critical work of securing resources that enable United Way of Denton County to change lives.

Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Internships
Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Interns are an integral part of the United Way of Denton County team.  They will participate in day to day activities that enable implementation of United Way of Denton County strategic goals, support community investment activities, and support resource development efforts.  Alongside the United Way of Denton County staff, they will lead projects, develop creative and effective collateral, participate in social media efforts and leverage technology solutions that maximize the effectiveness of United Way of Denton County.

Social Media Internship
The Social Media internship plays a critical role in providing specialized marketing support to all areas of United Way of Denton County. Social media interns will utilize all aspects of social media to support our Community Impact programs including Bank On Denton County, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, Pre-K Coalition, and resource development efforts such as LIVE United month in September, Text to Give, and workplace campaigns. Under the direction of the CEO, social media interns will also write press releases and help develop creative and effective marketing and outreach materials.

Bilingual Internship
The Bilingual Internship plays an integral part in helping United Way of Denton County effectively connect to a growing population of non-primary English speaking Denton County residents. Bilingual interns will connect culturally and communicatively with our Hispanic population through Community Impact programs including Bank On Denton County, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, and Pre-K Coalition. Under the direction of the CEO and Community Impact Director, the bilingual intern will also help create marketing and outreach materials in Spanish, and will participate in planning and conducting community impact activities that achieve strategic goals, and meet critical community needs.

Community Impact Internships
Community Impact Internships, including Social Work practicum field placements, meet a critical need for United Way of Denton County and provides hands on experience to individuals interested in entering the non-profit or social service profession.  While serving as a Community Impact Intern, the individual will participate in planning and conducting community impact activities that achieve strategic goals, meet critical community needs and improve lives in Denton County.  Under the direction of the Community Impact Director, the Community Impact Intern will be engaged in direct program activities that build healthy communities, create financial stability, promote education and respond to emergency needs for people of all ages throughout Denton County.

Advocacy Internships
Our Advocacy Internship provides the opportunity to work with community and civic leaders, United Way of Denton County board leadership and area non-profit leaders as we collectively work to educate local, state and federal elected officials regarding the pressing needs across Denton County.  Advocacy interns are actively engaged in United Way of Denton County's efforts to plan and participate in Denton County Days at the Texas State Capitol in coordination with area Chambers of Commerce, universities, city leaders and school districts.  In addition, Advocacy interns plan and attend United Way of Denton County's Advocacy retreat which is targeted to prepare non-profit staff and volunteer board leaders for greater advocacy effectiveness.

Non-Profit Management Internships
Our Non-Profit Management Internship provides a fast-paced, challenging, broad-based exposure to every aspect of a complex 501(c) non-profit organization.  The Non-Profit Management Intern will participate in strategy and activities in the areas of resource development, program development and organizational development.  Non-Profit Management Interns will participate in United Way of Denton County staff meetings and lead efforts in the areas of: finance and accounting, non-profit policies and procedures, community impact, marketing and communications, grant research and development, balanced business scorecard reporting and board relations.  Students from any discipline are encouraged to participate, but due to the complex nature of this internship, preference is given to candidates in the last year of their degree program.
