The city of Denton announced Wednesday that a countywide collaboration has received a federal Emergency Solutions Grant for 2017-19. The two-year grant provides $600,000 annually for programs that address homelessness.

Last year, city and county groups did not qualify for the grant after receiving it for many years.

A collaboration between the city of Denton, Christian Community Action, Denton County Friends of the Family, Giving Hope, Inc., and the Salvation Army of Denton, with help from the Denton County Homeless Leadership Team at the United Way of Denton County, led to the new award. The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs administers the grants on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
