Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health

In the summer of 2013, United Way of Denton County published our Community Needs Assessment, focused on mental health needs in Denton County. In response to the narrative laid out in that needs assessment, the Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health was formed in February 2014 through a private donation. Their goal was to significantly increase mental health access, services and cohesive and complete treatments in Denton County.

The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, a nonprofit working to change the condition of mental health in Texas, partnered with us to form a Collective Impact Initiative focused on improving mental health in Denton County. In 2015, the Denton County Behavioral Health Leadership Team formed and became that initiative, taking the place of the Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health.
