
2011 Project Blueprint Graduates
United Way of Denton County’s Project Blueprint: Board Leadership Training program is designed to train community volunteers to become qualified, quality board members of non-profit organizations in Denton County. The training consists of a series of meetings where the following areas are taught:
Governance (Mission Statements, Vision Statements, Developing & Reviewing Programs, Funding Relationships, Policies, Strategic Planning, Board Self-Assessment)
Board and Agency Relations (Recruitment, Succession Planning, Tenure, Diversity, Human Resources, Personnel Policies, Board vs. Staff Roles)
Operations of the Board (Board Functions & Responsibilities, Meetings, Committees, Code of Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, Bylaws, Legal Issues & Insurance, Job Descriptions)
Finance& Fundraising ( Fundraising Plans and Goals, Fundraising Ethics, Budgets, Financial Statements, Accounting Policies & Reporting, Investments, Management & Oversight, 990’s, Audits)
Marketing (Special Events, Types of Giving, Marketing Plans, Public Relations)
Each module taught will be presented by an expert in that field, and will consist of group exercises and a test. Each graduate of Project Blueprint will be placed for service with UWDC or introduced to an agency that matches their interests and passion.
