Denton, Texas (January 8, 2010): United Way of Denton County officials announced today that the community has responded to the call to LIVE UNITED in support of United Way and its partner agencies. Since the announcement on December 15, 2009 of a $160,000 shortfall in the campaign, donors have contributed as additional $76,413.50. Here are a few other points of note:

• As of January 8th, the 2009 campaign has raised $2,366,413.50 or 96.58% of the campaign goal.
• Denton Regional Medical Center responded to the news of the shortfall with an additional $10,000 corporate donation, which brings their 2009 campaign total to $120,183.35.  This amount includes $45,142 in employee donations, $64,000 in corporate donations, and over $9,000 raised through special events.
• Individuals continue to respond with donations, some of which are new donors and others are loyal donors who are adding to their already pledged amounts.
• With exactly one week left in the campaign, United Way is short $83,586.50 of the $2,450,000 goal.
