Denton Independent School District Raises Over $111,000 for United Way

Denton, Texas (December 11, 2009): Denton Independent School District elementary school principal Eric Harting presented United Way of Denton County board members with a check for over $111,000 as a result of the district’s 2009 United Way campaign.
Harting presented the check to United Way Board Chair Mary Ann McDuff, United Way Campaign Chair Caleb O’Rear and United Way Public Sector Campaign Director Jodi Ramon at United Way of Denton County’s Board of Directors meeting held at DISD’s Central Services building.
“I’m very proud of the district,” Harting said. “To tell you the truth, I was a little concerned when Dr. Braswell asked me to be the district’s United Way representative because I didn’t want to set a goal and not meet it. But instead, we increased our contribution from last year by over 10 percent and we also saw an increase in the number of Pillar donors.”
DISD increased its United Way contribution by more than $10,000, making the 2009 contribution the largest United Way has ever received from the district.
United Way Board Chair Mary Ann McDuff said the district has always played an integral part in the United Way campaign.
“DISD employees are a dedicated group of individuals. They are dedicated to bettering the quality of life for so many young individuals and they trust United Way to help better the quality of life for people in Denton County,” McDuff said.
