We work together to promote a healthier community.
Health is one of the most basic human needs - hunger, sickness, abuse, mental illness and the inability to take care of yourself are all life factors that harm people to the point that they cannot make headway in life.
Whether it is a neighbor without health insurance, a victim of abuse, or someone struggling with mental illness or an addiction, we are working to ensure everyone in our community can receive any and all help they need so they can focus on improving their lives rather than simple survival.
Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health
In terms of Mental Health Funding per Capita, Denton County is one of the lowest funded communities in the lowest funded state in the nation. The reasons for this are many, and our solution is to bring our community together through the Denton County Citizen's Council on Mental Health.
"Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive
Each year, the National Association of Letter Carriers hosts a nationwide food drive. On the second Saturday in May, caring community members leave bags of food by their mailbox. These bags are picked up by our local Letter Carriers, brought to Denton Community Food Center, and unloaded, weighed, and sorted by volunteers.
