Golf Tournament

Golf Tournament

There is no better way to LIVE UNITED than to spend a day with friends, old and new, on the golf course. In June, the 19th annual “People Helping People” Golf Tournament raised over $27,000 in funds which will go directly to the community through the programs and services of United Way of Denton County’s 26 partner agencies.

The tournament was held at Denton Country Club and consisted of 26 teams. As always, the tournament was sponsored by Denton area car dealerships such as James Wood Autopark, Bill Utter Ford, Huffines Auto, Classic of Denton, North Texas Nissan and Jim McNatt Auto Group. This marked the third year the tournament was Co-Chaired by Paul Chandler of Meridian Bank Texas and Denny Aldridge of James Wood Autopark.

Golf Tournament

Golfers compete for both team and individual prizes. In the 2009 tournament for team competition, First place went to the James Wood Autopark team; Second place went to the Lone Star Ag Credit team; and Third place went to the Point Bank team. Individual prizes went to Cameron Cox of Sawko & Burroughs for the longest drive in the men’s division; Kim Seay of the Hankins, Eastup, Deaton, Tonn & Seay, PC team for the longest drive in the women’s division; Ben Clark of the NorthStar Bank team for closest to the pin; and Brad Roblyer of the James Wood Autopark team won the putting contest.
